Dock Street Press is a traditional publishing house specializing in narrative non-fiction and fiction of all kinds, including novellas and short story collections.
Please do NOT send original materials, as they will not be returned to you.
Narrative Non-fiction: Please send a proposal explaining your project along with the first fifteen or so pages.
Fiction: Only solicited manuscripts will be read. Please send a query letter, brief synopsis, and the first fifteen or so pages of the manuscript.
Lazarette Books/Big Fiction Magazine: We’re getting ready to focus a series on novellas. Dock Street has also merged with the acclaimed Big Fiction Magazine, which specializes in novelettes and novellas. So if you’re looking to submit a novelette or novella, click the button below.
Due to a high volume of submissions, it may take up to several months to respond to your queries. However, we understand the work required in writing and preparing a manuscript. All queries will be responded to regardless of our decision.
We accept both electronic and traditionally mailed queries. If we are interested, we will ask for the balance of the manuscript. Solicited, complete manuscripts will only be accepted in hard-copy form.

The Victoria Rose seeks literary fiction and poetry. We accept stories and poems of any length. They can be any style and on any subject. Please send us only your best. Simultaneous submissions are accepted so as long as you let us know immediately if your piece is chosen for publication elsewhere. All rights will revert to the author upon publication. At year’s end a printed annual will be put out containing all of the pieces published online. Please include The Victoria Rose in the subject line of your submission.
