Volume 7: A Debate Uncovering a Wilde Area

By Colin James

Desert as far as the eye can see.
Dirt paths associative in consequence.
We ran as fast as possible through
the unforgiving terrain, stopping only
to rest and listen for engines.
Hard to spot while dogging our diversions,
deprivations are inevitable.
As remote as this area is, delusion
provides an accessible enticement.
My girlfriend tells me the only
reason she sits on my face is
that I’ll listen when she talks,
and why the Bluebird house I built
fortuitously facing a meadow
is still uninhabitable.
